2nd annual Mike Peters Freedom 40 Classic
Sprint Series of Oklahoma to run 40-lap feature Friday at Red Dirt Raceway
By John Rittenoure, MEEKER, Okla. (June 24, 2019) - The Sprint Series of Oklahoma visits Red Dirt Raceway on Friday for the 2nd annual Mike Peters Freedom 40 Classic.
The Freedom 40 Classic was started last year to honor the memory of Mike Peters. Peters, of Wichita, made a name for himself racing with the National Championship Racing Association where he picked up 55 career victories in the 1970’s and 80’s. Peters also won 11 track championships in a career that spanned over 40 years.
A 40-lap sprint feature will be run on Friday with added prize money on the line. A driver autograph session will be held in the grandstands before the races.
Sport Modifieds, Pure Stocks and 600cc Non-Winged Micros will also race on the program.
General admission is $15. High school students and younger are FREE (must how student ID). Tailgate area is $80 per carload (everyone must be in the vehicle and only ONE ice chest period vehicle). Pit passes are $30 (5 years and younger are only $10.
Racing on Friday begins at 8 p.m.
Red Dirt Raceway is located on state highway 18 between Chandler and Shawnee. Exit I-44 at Chandler and follow highway 18 south. From I-40 take the highway 18 exit and head north through Meeker.
