Sooner Limited Modifieds, Western Pure Stocks also racing
By John Rittenoure, MEEKER, Okla. (March 12, 2019) - A busy night of racing is slated for Red Dirt Raceway on Saturday with season opening events taking place in five classes.
The Ameri-Flex / OCRS Sprint Cars will headline the night with a full program culminating with a 30-lap feature paying $1,500 to the winner. Last year a field of 33 competitors was on hand for the OCRS opener at Red Dirt Raceway.
Also on the program is the Sooner Late Model Series. Defending champion Kip Hughes will lead a group of late model stock car racers to the Red Dirt quarter-mile oval for their season opener.
Last weekend Red Dirt Raceway opened the 2019 season with the running of the two-day 2nd annual Spring Nationals. The Sunday afternoon final was cancelled due to rain and re-scheduled for this Saturday. As a result the Sooner Limited Modifieds and the new Western Outlaw Pure Stocks will complete their show with heats and feature events.
Turf Tire micros will round out Saturday’s racing program.
Gates open at 2 p.m. Saturday with racing getting underway at 4.
Red Dirt Raceway is located on state highway 18 between Chandler and Shawnee. Exit I-44 at Chandler and follow highway 18 south. From I-40 take the highway 18 exit and head north through Meeker.
