2018 Red Dirt Raceway 1st Annual Spring Nationals

2018 Red Dirt Raceway 1st Annual Spring Nationals

We want to thank all the drivers, car owners, crew members and fans who came out for the first race of the series at Red Dirt Raceway. We had a total of 29 cars that showed up throughout the weekend, giving us some great action packed racing. Saturday night a total of 27 cars registered made for a B-main, lots of drivers were pushing their cars to the limits to earn passing points so they could make the A-main event. Our transfer spots from the B-main starting from first, Zach Tippett, Todd Decker, Jimmy Wright, Jonathan Morgan, Christopher Wilhite, Anthony Hicks, Donny Dennis and Robert Fallin. Heat winners for Saturday night were Jeff Rozelle, Kyle Goforth, Jared Baird and Robert Elliott were the heat winners. The A feature started a 20 car field Saturday night for a chance to win $500 and the winner was eligible for the $1000 bonus if they could take home the win for both nights. Robert Elliott took the lead right from the green and lead all 20 laps, rounding out the top five were Jared Baird, Kale Westover, Jerry Ensey and Brandon Kenny who also earned the Ibex Race Bumpers Hard Charger Award. 41 Shocks Move of the Race winner was Christopher Wilhite, who made his way in from the B-main and earned a top 10 finish. Jonathan Morgan was our Rookie of the Race.
Our second night of action packed racing, all 25 cars who entered the race ran the 30 lap feature with a lot of money on the line. $1000 to win and $100 to each lap leader. Christopher Wilhite, Kale Westover, Don Reid and Robert Elliott earned the heat wins. The feature began with a 4 wide salute to the fans that shook the ground as they drove by and had the fans cheering. Christopher Wilhite and Todd Decker started on the front row. Wilhite took the lead early and lead 2 laps which earned him an extra $200, but Kale Westover fought long and hard to keep the lead and led the race from that point on. Kale took home the $1000 prize and an extra $2800 in lap money, Don Reid, Jared Baird, Robert Elliott and Heston Shaw rounded out the top 5. Kyle Goforth who earned 6th place was the Rookie of the Race, Jeff Rozelle earned the Ibex Race Bumpers Hard Charger Award and Brandon Kenny earned the 41 Shocks Move of the Race.
Race 3 is coming up at Enid Speedway on April 7th for their Spring Nationals, we will have a lot of great racing so make your plans to come out and watch. Here is our top 10 so far: Kale Westover, Robert Elliott, Jared Baird, Don Reid, Brandon Kenny, Heston Shaw, Christopher Wilhite, Jeff Rozelle, Todd Decker and Kyle Goforth, our current leader in the Hoosier Racing Tire Rookie of the Year.
