Inside Line Promotions – HIGHLANDS, Texas (March 31, 2015) – Brandon Hanks earned back-to-back podium finishes for the first time in his career last weekend.

Hanks scored a third-place result during each race of the ASCS Gulf South Region season-opening doubleheader in Texas.

“That was a really, really good weekend,” he said. “It’s at the top of my list of best weekends I’ve had. It was a huge accomplishment. I’m very pleased with it. My confidence is through the roof right now.”

The competition began last Friday at Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont with Hanks maneuvering from sixth to third place during his heat race. That earned him enough points to advance into the feature redraw, where he pulled the second-highest number – seven – to line up on the inside of the fourth row of the main event.

“We were fast from the get-go on Friday,” he said. “In the feature Blake (Hahn) was just as fast as we were. He was able to giddy up and get gone. I was railing around the top and he was putting around the bottom. I was probably a foot off the wall. I haven’t had that much fun in a sprint car in a long time. When the car is handling good and you can hammer down up against the wall like that it’s really fun.”

Hanks quickly rallied from seventh to second place in the feature and he spent a majority of the main event chasing the leader before Ray Allen Kulhanek took over the second spot on the final lap. The third-place result for Hanks was his first top five of the season.

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Battleground Speedway, where Hanks finished eighth in his heat race before rallying to garner the sixth-and-final transfer position during the B Main. That lined him up last in the main event.

“We were able to sneak into the A Main,” he said. “We swung a little harder on the setup because we were starting dead last and we hit it perfectly. That car could do anything I wanted it to.”

Hanks powered from 20th to record his second straight third-place finish. It also gave him the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

Hanks is scheduled to make his debut at Red River Speedway in Wichita Falls, Texas, this Friday and at Black Hawk Casino Speedway in Meeker, Okla., on Saturday with the ASCS Red River Region.
