Inside Line Promotions – PARK CITY, Kan. (March 30, 2015) – Tony Bruce Jr. will make his debut at a pair of tracks this weekend during the inaugural ASCS Red River Region season-opening doubleheader.

Bruce Jr. and the region will compete on Friday at Red River Speedway in Wichita Falls, Texas, and on Saturday at Black Hawk Casino Speedway in Meeker, Okla.

“I think going to a race track for the first time is sometimes a good advantage,” he said. “We really have no expectations. We’re going to go in there and do what we need to do. Sometimes having no knowledge of a place is actually better.”

Bruce Jr., who has won at least one race in both Texas and Oklahoma the past two years, is coming off a 12th-place result during the NCRA’s 5th annual Air Capital Shootout at 81 Speedway last Saturday.

After finishing second on Friday during a time trial session to determine the 360ci track record, Bruce Jr. competed on Saturday at the 3/8-mile oval.

“We were pretty good in the heat race,” he said. “We’ve always had some pretty good success around 81 Speedway. The track was nice and wide for the heat races. We took advantage of having a good car.”

Bruce Jr., who started last – ninth – maneuvered to a fourth-place result to lock himself into the main event.

“I really didn’t get anyone on the start,” he said. “I got them one at a time. I actually got involved in a crash, had to go to the back and then had to pass them again.”

Bruce Jr. started on the outside of the seventh row of the main event.

“We just weren’t very good in the feature,” he said. “The track slicked off a lot so we tightened the car up quite a bit. We just went too far. I couldn’t rotate the center of the corner and it made it to where I was pretty one-dimensional on the race track. I had to drive the car a certain way and wasn’t able to move around on the race track.”

His 12th-place result marked the fifth top 15 of the season.
