DRUMRIGHT, Okla. (July 23rd, 2013) – The 2013 racing season for Mattox Racing has made a turn in a different direction as Meeker, Oklahoma’s Brill Motor Speedway, Fred’s home track has shut down due to personal reason.
Fred was sitting second in weekly Champ Sprint points at BMS before they locked the gates for good.
The team then decided to run an open schedule and race in as many shows as possible for the remainder of the 2013 racing season.
On July 13, Mattox made yet another appearance to Sapulpa, Oklahoma’s Creek County Speedway a tight quarter mile bullring were he placed a 17th finish due to having bad luck making his way to the front of the field.
This past Saturday July 20 was a change of fate for Mattox, as he topped a field of 15 competitors in the nights Champ Sprint ‘A’ Feature event at Creek County Speedway. After winning the heat race event, Mattox’s point average set him for the outside pole position in the 20 lap affair were he lead wire-to-wire capturing the main event.
Mattox Racing would like to thank, Champion Oil, D&J Tank Trucks, Pacer Energy Marketing, AKL Oilfield Services, and Dyno Services of Oklahoma for all the support so Fred can continue to do what he loves.
This Saturday night Fred will join the travel winged warriors of the Oil Capital Racing Series (OCRS) at Ada, Oklahoma’s 4/10 oval known as Oklahoma Sports Park. Mattox has had a lot of good runs at OSP, but has come up short by one position in the past few races contested.
